SASC manages funds that invest in outstanding social sector organisations

About our funds

SASC launched two funds in 2014: the Community Investment Fund and the Third Sector Investment Fund. Since then we have invested in organisations operating in many sectors across the UK.

The experience gained managing these first two funds has made it possible for SASC to develop a sector specific offering. Launched in May 2019, the award winning Social and Sustainable Housing (‘SASH’) fund offers commercial financial returns and measurable social impact. Our unique and innovative product allows high performing charities working across the UK to build portfolios of properties that are used to house individuals in receipt of housing benefit. SASH I closed in 2022 having successfully lent £65m to 20 great charities. SASH II had a successful first close in September 2022 at £39m and is open for investment.

In September 2020, SASC bought Leapfrog Bridge Finance, the finance arm of low carbon innovator, Pure Leapfrog. Now operating as SASC Bridge Finance, it allows us to expand our work in the renewable energy sector.

SASC’s first generation funds were backed by Big Society Capital and The Social Investment Business. Our work with exceptional charities and social enterprises has given us the opportunity to develop a new product that has attracted commercial capital.

Our highly innovative second generation funds offer commercial returns and significant social impact. They are informed by the wide variety of investments that SASC has made in the social sector over the past nine years, and the extensive experience of the team.
