The Cornerstone Partnership is a social enterprise that aims to improve the lives of children and families who come into contact with the care system. It was founded in 2015 by two experienced adoptive parents. Having themselves gone through the experience of adopting, they identified opportunities within the system to improve the process of assessing, supporting and training adopters and foster carers.
The Cornerstone Partnership is pioneering the use of virtual reality (VR) programmes in fostering and adoption services, as well as for giving immersive therapeutic support to children in the care system. The VR tool projects people into the world as children so that they can better understand the impact that a child’s trauma is having later in its life. More than 40 local authorities now use Cornerstone’s VR programmes.
