We are delighted that SASC investee Storeroom 2010 has today been awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteer groups.
This award was created by The Queen in 2002 to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community.
Storeroom 2010 is an inspirational furniture re-use charity and social enterprise situated on the Isle of Wight working to improve the lives of people in the local community. The charity enables deprived families to furnish their homes in a more affordable way. This improves their quality of life and preserves their dignity. Storeroom 2010 has also developed a training business to support vulnerable people back into work through learning technical skills such as carpentry and joinery as well as broader training in management, leadership and customer service.
Through the Community Investment Fund, SASC invested in Storeroom 2010 alongside a grant from Power to Change to buy the warehouse where it stores and sells furniture.
Many congratulations to the Storeroom 2010 team!
